My Opus, My Goal And My Dream
What is an opus, or “My Opus”, is a question that may come to your mind when you read my Page title. Let me explain it to you before I get into what my own personal “Opus” is. If you are a musician you may be familiar with the term, but for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, an Opus is a musicians best, or grandest work of music for a composer. For example, the main compositions of Vivaldi, Mozart, or Bach.
You can say that an Opus is that thing you create for the world to enjoy, even after you are long gone, but not forgotten. An Opus is the LEGACY you wish to create.
Let me provide some examples of an Opus to you:
• “KFC” or Kentucky Fried Chicken, created by Colonel Harland Sanders
• “The Ford Engine” created by Henry Ford
• “The McDonalds Corporation”, created by Ray Kroc
• “Microsoft”, created by Bill gates
• The famous board game “Monopoly”, created by Charles Darrow
• “Facebook”, created by Mark Zuckerberg
“All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.”~Brian Tracy~
This is just a short list of a few peoples Opuses that they brought into the world so everyone can enjoy them. Have you ever considered the creations above as a person’s Opus, or their grandest creation?
Now let’s look at “My Opus vs. My Goals and Dreams”
Here is my personal formula for your Opus.
Goals + Dreams = Opus
Now you may ask, why do I say Goals + Dreams = Opus or, “Your Opus”. The reason is that to accomplish your dreams you need to have goals that you are working towards in your everyday life, like talking to people every day about your business, or exercising every day to become an Olympic Gold Medalist.
When you reach your goal that you set for yourself, your dream will become your reality, keep in mind though that not every dream is equal to your Opus. If you have a dream to go to Disney World, that is a personal dream that is only for you and your family to enjoy. But if you have a dream to write a book that people can enjoy or learn from, THAT will be your Opus.
Now, you may ask, “Theuns, do you have a dream that will become your Opus, or a Opus to the world?”
I can say to you, with my heart WIDE open, YES! I do have a dream that will become “My Opus” that will help the world to learn and understand life’s principles in a fun way. Steve my partner and I have developed a board game called “Gratitude” that will show the world a fun way of learning life’s most important principles such as “The Law of Gratitude”, and “The Law of Giving”, and all of the other universal laws that people do not know of if they are not familiar with personal development and everything that is a part of it.
My personal goal is to have one MILLION people give us feedback on this growing idea via the use of social media, so I can know of what people think about the game before I present it on a grander scale to the world.
